“Caribbean Curatorship and National Identity” – November 29th to December 2nd, 2009


Mercier-4Caribbean Curatorship and National Identity is the theme of an exciting conference being held in Barbados November 29th to December 2nd, 2008 at the Accra Beach Hotel, Christ Church.

Caribbean Curatorship and National Identity will examine how history is interpreted and heritage is shaped by communal memory for audiences, old and new, local and foreign. An exciting line up of local, regional and international experts have been invited to participate in 3 seminars to discuss and debate the broad array of issues this topic presents. Of particular interest to visual artists and curators will be networking events with regional and international presenters and participants.

The Conference is being held in conjunction with the Museums Association of the Caribbean (MAC) 21st Annual General Meeting and in collaboration with the Barbados National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), warhol-orangeNational Art Gallery Committee (NAGC), International Curators Forum (ICF), Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts and the Cultural Leadership Programme (CLP) of the British Arts Council.
