The Collector?s Club is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a ?Collectors’ Choice? art exhibition at The Art Gallery, Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination (EBCCI).The exhibition brings together the favourite works of art of a number of collectors in Barbados. This exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Sir Cecil (Bertie) Graham. Sir Cecil and Lady Graham have been active members of the Collectors Club and ardent supporters of the visual arts in Barbados.The Collector?s Club has made a number of significant contributions in support of the visual arts in Barbados. The ?Lifetime Achievement Award in the Visual Arts? is the Club?s largest ongoing project. The award recognizes the contribution of outstanding artists in Barbados. Six artists have been honoured to date starting with Gordon Parkinson in 2001 and the latest being Arthur Atkinson in 2008.The six-episode television series ?Seeing Art,? produced by Dr. Hugh Corbin of the Collector?s Club, is important for its contribution to art education and appreciation. The series has been aired on CBC-TV and copies have been made available to educational institutions in Barbados.The Collectors Club has sponsored lectures in the ?Art Talk? series at Lancaster House and members have contributed topical articles to the ?Seeing Art? series featured in a section of the local press. Art exhibitions and the art viewing programme are also part of The Collectors Club portfolio.The mission of the Collectors Club is to foster and spread the joys of art and its collection, to encourage the patronage of local artists by the purchasing of their work, and to cooperate with other relevant bodies in order to facilitate the development of the visual arts in Barbados.The public is invited to view the ?Collectors’ Choice? exhibition from October 26th to November 7th at The Art Gallery, Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, UWI. The Gallery is open 10am ? 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
