BVI?s Open Mic sounded a loud ?NO? to Domestic Violence
For the third year, the Callaloo Poets raised the awareness to the devastating issue of Domestic Violence with a special poetry reading last weekend.The theme of the ?open mic? was ?Stop Domestic Violence: Love Doesn?t Hurt? – a collaborative effort with the Family Support Network (FSN). Writers, many garbed in purple, black and/or white and pinned with purple ribbons, rendered poems and songs focused on abuse, love, intimacy and other societal woes.During the reading, Lauren Keel, who represented FSN, spoke to the audience about the Family Support Network?s role in the community. Lauren was later presented with a cash contribution from the poets and the audience.
