Dear Mr. Evans,

Re Public Forum – Port Louis Marina Development

Greetings from Citizens in Defence of Grenada?s Lands and Heritage!

We have noted that many persons in the private sector have labeled our group ?detractors of progress? because of the various concerns that we have raised in relation to the Port Louis Marina development and our opposition to the backfilling of the Lagoon foreshore and proposed plans for the Lagoon Park.

We are not insensitive to the economic situation facing the country or the need for foreign direct investment. Permit us to suggest that it would facilitate public understanding of and buy-in for this project if there was informed discussion on the project. We therefore propose to host a public forum on the Port Louis marina development. In this regard, we are seeking the support and co-operation of your organization.

We propose the following format for the public forum:

three 10 ? minute presentations from each of the following:
(i) The Government of Grenada
(ii) The Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce
(iii) Citizens in Defence of Grenada?s Lands and Heritage
Questions and answers among the panel
Interaction between panel and audience.

We take this opportunity to invite, through you, two representatives of the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce to articulate your organisation?s assessment of this project re the benefits envisaged for the country. We propose Thursday, September 24th, 5.30 p.m. Mr. Basil Harford has agreed to be moderator. We will advise of the venue. Our venue of choice will be one of the following depending on availability ? Grenada Trade Centre, GBSS Auditorium or the Conference Centre of the Grenada Red Cross.

We look forward to your organisation’s positive response re participation in this forum. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries or require further clarification.

Best regards!

Sincerely yours,

Sandra C.A. Ferguson
