Barbadian Ad Agency & Production Group pull Big Wins in U.S. Virgin Islands ADDY Awards – Audio Commercials given a crucial “Best of Radio” & More!

Two Barbadian organisations won top honours in the American Advertising Federation awards, known as the ADDY’s. According to Cayman Net News, an Ad Agency from Barbados has done extensive work which earned not only respect but many trophies;-

Virgo Communications, won a whopping twelve awards at the Caribbean Advertising Federation?s annual ADDY Awards competition, which recognises and rewards creative excellence in the art of advertising.

Speaking in regards to the impressive range of awards Virgo collected at the 2009 ADDY ceremony, Managing Director, Stephanie von Oppen-Taylor remarked, ?Virgo continues to demonstrate its consistent creativity and effective execution of integrated communication tactics through the wide diversity of awards won this year. To have been recognised across so many different categories and for so many different clients throughout the region is extremely gratifying and is affirmation of the breadth and depth of Virgo?s core competencies.?

Of the twelve awards, three (one-gold and two-silver) were granted for work done for The DeckHouses, a luxury development at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Resort owned by visionary developer Michael Ryan.

There were also many Bajan clients who helped Ms Van Oppen’s tally of awards, especially in the online category;-

Virgo also won big in the Website/Online category, which is a rapidly expanding component of the agency?s business, receiving Silver awards for clients LIAT and Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, the Caribbean?s first residential and retail lifestyle centre located in Barbados. Additional awards for Animation/Special Effects and Fractional Print honoured work produced for Cable & Wireless, Waterhall Polo Club, Duty Free Caribbean and Altman Real Estate.

Meanwhile, audio from Barbados was also respected apart from Bajan work online and in video;-

Two radio commercials produced by Crucial Productions Inc. have been recognized at the U.S. Virgin Island’s division of the 2009 National ADDY Awards – one of the industry’s largest and most prestigious competitions. The radio spots, both commissioned by MLB Creative in St. Thomas for client McDonald’s, have altogether garnered a “Best of Radio” , a Gold ADDY for :30 Radio, and a Silver ADDY for Sound Design.

The 30-second “Chicken Snack Wrap Rap” promo was the winner of “Best of Radio” and a Gold ADDY. “Skillet Burrito“, also a 30-second spot, won the Silver ADDY for Sound Design – a niche category specifically created to recognize the creative execution of individual components of an advertising entry.

Graham Johnson, who joined the Crucial Productions team as audio production engineer in February of 2008, worked on the Silver winning ADDY spot after only two months of training in the studio environment by Phil Archer, a testament to his twenty years experience in the live sound arena, mixing and engineering for a multitude of local and international acts.

Crucial Productions has produced numerous radio advertisements for MLB Creative over the years, forming a relationship that, according to MLB’s CEO and Partner Terri Brown, is based on their mutual understanding of the components that create a successful radio campaign. ?A well written script is only half the battle,? said Brown. ?Having a creative engineer and producer can make all the difference between a good radio spot and a great spot. Phil Archer makes that difference for us.?

According to Phil Archer, owner and founder of Crucial Productions, the creative process is at its best when both parties are given the latitude to express their creativity. ?MLB gave us a rap and let us run with the music and talent selection. We had a lot of fun with it.?

This year’s accolades mark the second year in a row Archer and his team at Crucial have produced award-winning radio spots for MLB. In 2008, Crucial produced a 60-second radio commercial for MLB which one a Gold ADDY, a Judge’s Choice Award, and the heralded “Best in Show“, a category that is rarely won by a radio spot.

The ADDY Awards are sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and recognize creative excellence in numerous categories of various media types. The AAF-USVI is a member of the American Advertising Federation and is part of the 4th District of Florida and the Caribbean.

Crucial Productions Inc. is a full service media production facility offering services for short and long format video for television, internet and in-house purposes, radio advertising, music production, pre- and post-production sound for video and television, 3D & 2D animation, 3D Architectural visualization and rendering, web design and programming and matte painting for film and video production.
