by AirBourne / January 1st, 2009
The Virgin Islands Improvement Association (VIIA) and the African Studies Klub (ASK) just celebrated a successful and cheerful gathering with the first ever pre-Kwanzaa celebration in the Virgin Islands.

After viewing the film, ?The Black Candle? by M. K. Asante Jr, the audience was informed about the Kwanzaa traditions and poetry and holiday sentiments were shared.?

As gift giving is a part of the Kwanzaa celebration, donations from the audience were used to purchase a gift basket of fruits and natural juices for the residents of the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly.

The VIIA, ASK and Callaloo Poets hope to continue to make positive contributions to the community and wishes everyone a safe, enjoyable, productive and prosperous 2009.?
