The Sandy Lane Accommodation Services and Laundry Department has won prizes for the ?Most Informative Booth? and ?Best Product Knowledge Sharing Booth? at a recent Product Knowledge Showcase at the luxury hotel. Second place went to Reservations and Front of House and third place was awarded to Food and Beverage.

Director of Human Resources, Jacqueline Floro-Forde explained that showcase was intended to educate the staff on the different roles of the departments and their day to activities.

?The hotel?s values include developing creativity, encouraging team spirit and recognising and rewarding excellence and the showcase allowed both management and staff to demonstrate these values among others.? Mrs. Floro-Forde noted.

Eleven creatively designed booths were on display representing departments such as Information Technology, Reservations and Front of House, Leisure, Beach and Watersports, Food and Beverage and Spa Services.

Mrs Floro-Forde added that the Product Knowledge Showcase will be an annual event and staff can expect to see more positive interaction between themselves and management including departmental open houses which will commence from May 2009.

Samantha Moore of Accommodation Services observed that knowing how each department functions on a daily basis allows each employee to effectively carry out the Hotel?s vision of being the premier luxury resort in the world. ?The showcase was educational and informative and allowed staff to interact with each other,? she said.

Digicel was also on hand offering discounted cell phone rates to the staff and personnel from the Ministry of Health provided complimentary testing for HIV, blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol.
