BAM, Arts marathon a great success. Please support the children of Barbados – Submitted by Corrie Scott

I had the most wonderful time over the weekend as I spent 24 hours with approximately 60 artists, photographers, sculptors and creators to produce pieces for BAM, the Barbados Arts Marathon at Lancaster Great House to raise funds for disadvataged children here in Barbados through the Sunshine Optimist Club and The Barbados Community Foundation.

Some wonderful work was created so please come and view and support the children of Barbados.

I have created an album of the event showing work being produced as well as some of the final pieces at Google’s Picasa.

It was a wonderful, stimulating event with students from schools, Community College and seasoned artists and photographers all working together inside, outside in the gardens, day and night.

Food shared, drinks shared, ideas shared, talked about concepts and lots of laughter, even when exhausted as we went through the 24 hours. Music played. A few slept quietly for a bit wherever they could find space on floor, under tables or garden. Others created the entire time. I hid for a few hours by myself and drifted off for a much needed 2 hours to regenerate energy.

Virginia Trieloff proposed the idea about a year ago as she does the same in Canada, and Roger Chubb at Lancaster Great House and Virginia co ordinated and created the event. An amazing feat. Thank you Virginia and Roger.

Looking forward to next year.

Come and visit Lancaster House and view the work of over 60 artists as they created pieces for BAM, the first 24 hour Barbados Art’s Marathon.

This is a wonderful opportunity to choose that very special Christmas gift.

The aim of the event is to raise funds to enable underprivileged children to purchase art materials through the Sunshine Optimist Club and the Barbados Community Foundation.
