IMPORTANT: Detours on ABC Highway – Creative Driving over the next 2 Weekends?
The C.O. Williams Construction Team was forced to postpone the final paving on a section of the ABC Highway between the Emancipation Statue and the new roundabout at the Samuel Jackman Prescod PolyTechnic due to the weather conditions over the past several days.
This work has been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday and in the meantime, traffic going north towards Bussa will continue to detour into the right lane at the SJPP roundabout which will also accommodate the south bound traffic in single lanes. Traffic has therefore been reduced to single lanes in both directions 24 hours daily over this sector of the Highway.
Traffic exiting from Parkinson Field will turn right on the highway and join at the SJPP roundabout, but no traffic from the Pine East-west Road will be allowed to enter or join the ABC highway until after the section is completed next week.
The C.O. Williams Construction Team also advises you in advance that the junction at BET leading to Upton will be excavated next weekend and closed from 7.30 p.m. Friday 25th to 4.30 p.m. Sunday 27th to facilitate the connection of Barbados Water Authority mains.
As a result, traffic will be unable to left turn at the foot of the BET Hill or to enter Upton from Highway R. All motorists must take alternative routes to Upton, Forte George and Kent next weekend. Motorists are required to continue exercising additional caution at all road work sites and observe the signs and directions given. The Williams Construction team thanks you for your understanding, co-operation and kind consideration.
