Barbadian Rumshop sponsors sequel to reality-TV series ? Open Mic: The Return

The first series of Open Mic was a resounding success. Over the course of eight sessions, Braddies Bar in Christ Church, Barbados was graced by many extraordinary performers who captivated audiences with their talents in Poetry, Song and Comedy.

The intense demand and numerous phone calls and inquiries were clear indicators that the series had to be resumed. Thus, in order to appease the public’s overwhelming enthusiasm, Open Mic is once again being produced and this forthcoming series promises to surpass the standard set by the previous one. Once again all are invited, whether you are a singer, writer, comedian or spoken word artiste with a message to deliver, just grab a mic and showcase your talent.

Open Mic: The Return will commence on Thursday June 5th 2008, at 9pm and will be hosted by DJ and radio personality of 98.1 The One, Hurricane who is looking forward to a new batch of artistes.

It was amazing to see the amount of people who came out and supported Open Mic. The event was supported by not only the artistes, but also the producers and other key people in the music industry. I can’t wait to see what the next batch of Open Mic acts will bring next.” says Hurricane.

Pyramid Entertainment is also eagerly anticipating the new group of artistes that will come out for this second series and have already started working with some of the artistes from the first session of Open Mic.

I think one of the things that really made Open Mic a success was the support from the artistes, both emerging and established for the event. We have had the likes of Philip 7, Buggy, Peter Ram and Biggie Irie and many others passing through the Bar to not only encourage the talent but also to perform for the audience. From the first batch of artistes, we have already chosen some of the talent whom we will be developing and will be announcing this shortly. We have reviewed the first season of Open Mic and will be seeking to make significant improvements to the show with the assistance of our sponsors Kick and Guinness.” – Santia Bradshaw, Pyramid Entertainment Management Inc.

Sponsors for Open Mic: The Return include Guinness and Kick Energy Drink and each week one can expect promotional giveaways as well as a freestyle segment for anyone who desires to display their proficiency in freestyle technique.
