YOUTH CRICKETERS ARE PART OF THE ACTION AT DIGICEL HOME SERIES – U19 Cricketers gain valuable experience with Digicel as they interact with Sr Players

Digicel, proud sponsor of West Indies Cricket, is giving 54 youth cricketers across nine countries valuable work experience, as they are employed to support Digicel on the grounds during the Digicel Home Series 2008.

As Digicel?s event management team hires six young cricketers in each country, these aspiring cricketers get to see the action up close and interact with the players as they help brand the stadium, distribute promotional items and assist with various activities during the Digicel Home Series.

Dennis Bulli, 21 years old and a Jamaica fast bowler for Kensington Cricket Club, who Digicel has hired for the past three years in Sabina Park, had the opportunity to bowl to the West Indies team in nets during their practice sessions over the last week. Says Bulli when asked about his experience of working or Digicel at Sabina Park, ?It?s fun, and the money is good!?

?Our youth cricket employment programme started in 2005 and has been a huge success. We are pleased that we are able to offer these young men an opportunity to see West Indies cricket up close, meet the cricketers and earn some money at the same time,? said Ciara Ryan, Digicel Group Sponsorship Manager. ?The guys are well-mannered, hardworking and really enjoy the opportunity to work at cricket.?

The Digicel Home Series 2008 is 19 year-old Rasheed Outar?s first time working with the Digicel event management team. ?I?m enjoying working with the other youth cricketers. Working at the matches is very different from just watching, and I like the new perspective.?

All of the boys play club cricket and one of them, Shacya Thomas, was a member of the West Indies Under-19 team that recently toured in Malaysia.

Youth cricketers will also be employed throughout the remainder of the Series in Antigua, Barbados, St. Vincent, Grenada and St. Kitts.
