“Riddim & Flo: D.J’s Book ‘O Rhymz Vol. 2” includes 57 pieces of poetry from the familiar, comical, educating and entertaining works of D.J Simmons. It’s divided into two sections defining the difference between pieces written for performance poetry and those others written more for reading pleasure to ponder. The book includes pieces such as the NIFCA award winning “Recognised With Riddim & Flo” and “Das De Plan“, as well as popular pieces like “Poet“, “A Girl Like Woman” and “Energy“. This publication also includes a short dramatic skit and a section describing the inspirations and backgrounds to each piece.The spoken word album “Riddim & Flo“, is where D.J comes to life… This 16 track CD is compiled mainly of popular pieces found in the new book as well as a couple favourites from the first. Produced by Brain Marshall & JJ Poulter of the group Kite, this project combines rhymes and rhythms, effects and musicians to truly showcase the genre of the spoken word. The album features guest appearances from Adrian Green, Heru, JJ Poulter, Andre Forde, Richard Evans and Brian Marshall. The bonus track is a reggae remix to the popular piece “Energy“ featuring Adrian Green…boom!
Come down to the Limelight Cafe this Friday May 30th for the launching of these two projects. The evening blasts off in an after work lime style at 5:00pm with music by Mayhem Soundz and an E&J Gallo wine sampling as the sun is setting.
