Camouflage for Chelsea – UK Flower Show lulled by sounds of Bajan Reggae
While most Barbadian’s will be greeting the sunrise this Monday the 19th David Kirton will be sharing the Green Camouflage at the Barbados Horticultures Societies display at The RHS Chelsea Flower Show in the UK during the press photo call. The concept of combining the two disciplines of floral art and music will present a multi sensory ambiance filled with essences of Barbados, creating another beautiful unique display by the BHS.
This will be one of the first times a singer/songwriter will be performing at an exhibit at The Chelsea Flower Show.
One of David Kirton’s strongest talents is his songwriting; his music weaves images and stories of Barbados and Caribbean life. Kirton writes his songs while submerged in nature with the east coast of Barbados being one of his most inspirational hideouts. The desire to share the indigenous lifestyle and landscape of Barbados with the world while creating an appreciation for preservation and sustainable development of the island features in many of his songs.
It is this aspect of Kirton’s music that will be performed at The Chelsea Flower Show, organic, international, eco friendly and filled with beauty, love and history.
Joining David Kirton on lead guitar will be Andre Jonson, a St. Thomas musician who leads Kirton’s band in Northern California. Jonson appears in Kirton’s mini documentary shot while on tour with his band in the USA, 2007. The mini documentary video can be viewed on Kirton’s youtube site.
Kirton will be performing at a few notable venues and promoting his music while in the UK with interviews and live performances on BBC, Choice FM and others.
This Chelsea performance will mark the launch of a promotional campaign in the UK by Bird’s Eye Music, Kirton’s Barbadian Record label. The Barbados Tourism Authority and Virgin Airlines are sponsoring the performance by Kirton at the Chelsea Flower show.
