EJD Pleasure

Review:

“Is obsession required to experience the ultimate in sexual fulfillment? Dickey searches for the answer to that question in his latest steamy romance (after Waking with Enemies) via Nia Simone Bijoux, a ghostwriter recently moved to Atlanta. A devout Anas Nin fan, Nia’s in hot pursuit of the perfect lay. Enlivened by sometimes catchy narration (‘Self-pleasuring was popcorn…. My body was telling me it needed steak’), Nia’s adventures with ‘identical sins,’ twins Mark and Karl, introduce her to the dubious delights of threesomes and more, leading eventually to a showdown with Mark’s wife, Jewell Stewark, a TV anchorwoman. Marred somewhat by Nia’s pretentious airs (her self-involvement can be crippling to the narrative), this erotic potboiler still delivers its message that saying ‘yes’ to pleasure can also lead to self-enlightenment.” Publishers Weekly (Copyright Reed Business Information, Inc.)

Synopsis:

Filled with sexual energy, “Pleasure” centers around a female narrator who struggles with the old-school concept that one man should be able to meet all of a woman’s needs, both sexual and emotional.

Miki Starr Martin came bursting through the doors of the underground literary world in 2002 with her witty and dramatic debut novel Well Runs Dry. This tale of lies, cheating, sex, and love quickly earned her a reputation as an author to be reckoned with.

Now she’s back with a new set of predicaments certain to help take your mind off of your own issues. Broken Promises is the story of two best friends torn apart by their love for the same man. This must read is armed with Martin’s classic twists and turns which are sure to keep the reader guessing, and a collage of colorful characters to fall in love (and dislike) with. Certain to be a Spring/Summer blockbuster, this book is a must add for any worthwhile reading collection.

It is part of human nature for us to seek ultimate happiness and to want more than what our eyes have ever seen. As life is never perfect, people tend to get frustrated about their lives, and in the process they eventually lose their sense of purpose.

Never Say Never is a compelling new novel about the lives four young women of a colour whose friendship dates back to childhood. It presents the story of how their lives emerged from early adolescence into adulthood. Through the pages of this work, readers will meet an unforgettable quartet ? Amanda, a successful doctor, LaNae an entrepreneur, Monique, a hairstylist, and Celeste, an educator ? and through each of their stories, they will witness the obstacles that comes with careers, their own search for meaning and happiness, and ultimately discover their relationships that evolve around family, friendship and love.

Through friendship, these women grow and evolve, both individually and collectively. The message of this book is clear: You might not know yourself as well as you think you do or know what you want out of life and everything that shows up unplanned is not an unfortunate thing.

As an avid reader I am always looking for a book that opens my eyes to new experiences. The four heroines in Never Say Never, were down to earth, likable characters that had not so typical experiences. I loved the way the author demonstrated how the choices we make in life have consequences (good or bad) that we have to live with. I would say that a great theme for this book is “You reap what you sow.” I will take from this book a renewed belief in the Golden Rule.

From the bestselling author of Pandora’s Box and Insatiable — the story of two women whose lives are consumed by their rivalry for the same man.

A seductive tale of lust and revenge, The Climax charts the entangled lives of two women — Terelle and Kai — who have both suffered irrecoverable losses in their pursuit of Marquise, who is believed to be dead. Kai is in prison, and Terelle suffered from a mental breakdown after losing her fianc?. After two years of catatonia, Terelle is awakened by a sweet and mysterious kiss, and the voice of her lost love.

As Terelle recovers, she clings to the idea that Marquise (who is the father of her child) is still alive and out there, waiting to reunite with her. She goes into grueling rehabilitation in order to find a way back to him, all the while enduring the concern of loved ones, who think she is delusional. At the same time, Kai is jailed for a murder she didn’t commit, but that doesn’t stop her wanton behavior. Not a day goes by that Kai doesn’t plot a wicked revenge on Terelle. Throughout steamy prison encounters, and despite a lifetime sentence, Kai vows that Terelle will never know a moment of peace, so long as she lives.
