Barbadians who have wondered what it would be like to create their own museum exhibition will soon have an opportunity to do so.

This comes as the Barbados Museum and Historical Society prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary in May of this year.

Barbados? leading heritage institution is inviting persons to submit fond memories of their experiences at the Barbados Museum and the 75 most outstanding moments will be highlighted during the anniversary celebrations.

They can also list a favourite painting, antique or any other object seen on exhibit at the Museum. This must be submitted in writing, outlining in 200 words the reason the object was selected.

The public?s chosen treasures from the Museum?s collections will be combined to form the 75th Anniversary Exhibition, which will be opened on May 18.

Those persons whose objects are chosen for the exhibition will be presented with a special commemorative gift.

The Barbados Museum and Historical Society was established in 1933 by an act of Parliament. Today, the non-profit organisation has a membership of over 1,000 individuals and companies.

While the organisation receives a subvention from Government, nevertheless it is a non-governmental organisation.

Its mandate is to collect, document and conserve evidence of Barbados? cultural, historical and environmental heritage and to interpret and present its evidence for all sectors of society.
