A 15?man team from the oldest and one of the most influential cricket clubs in the world is touring St. Kitts and Nevis, giving a boost to the sports tourism sub-sector which is expected to set a new record of visitors, this year.

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) team arrived last evening for a March 17 to 31 tour. They were welcomed at the R. L. Bradshaw International Airport by Director of Sports Dave Connor. He told the group how pleased the Government and people of the twin-island Federation were to have the club visit. Connor assured the team of the commitment of the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture to ensure their stay is productive and enjoyable.

The Director of Sport then accompanied the group to Nevis, where they will spend the first week of their tour. They will play several local teams there and sample the island?s culture. The MCC will also conduct coaching and umpiring sessions for local officials. The second week of the visit will follow a similar schedule in St. Kitts.

The MCC is based at Lords in the United Kingdom. Lord’s has long been considered the Home of Cricket and the game’s spiritual headquarters.
