JUSTICE IS SERVED IN BARBADOS – PARKING IDs AVAILABLE FOR THE MOBILITY CHALLENGED

Long has The Bajan Reporter been wishing to see that right is done with Handicapped Parking, now the
Barbados Council for the Disabled is taking a step in the most excellent direction –

The Barbados Council for the Disabled will be distributing free Disabled Parking Permits (parking ID’s) to those mobility challenged persons this Saturday, March 29, at Emerald City Supermarket, Six Roads, St. Philip and Super Centre, Sunset Crest, St. James. The distribution will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Interested persons are urged to apply for their IDs at either of these two locations.

According to an official at the Council, ?these IDs are given to persons who through disability or a debilitating disease have some challenge and are unable to walk long distances?.

On Saturday, persons with visible disabilities such as wheel chair users, those using crutches or canes and the visually impaired will be able to apply and collect their permits, while others will be allowed to complete application forms and return to the Council at a later date with a certificate from their doctor or physiotherapist indicating that they do have a challenge.

Normally, the IDs are obtained through the Council either by filling out the form on its website or by visiting the office at Harambee House, the Garrison, St. Michael.

This initiative is sponsored by the National Disabilities Unit and the GlenHuron Offshore Bank.
