Canadian City lays down ultimatum – Soca or Die!

soca or die

Kool Haus downtown Toronto was invaded with fifteen soca monarchs and thirteen road monarchs from around the Caribbean, as Dr. Jay hosted his 7th annual birthday celebration, Soca or Die.

St. Vincent’s 2007 Road March King, Problem Child proved that he did not have a problem entertaining the packed venue with his “Party Animal” tune. The sexy Tizzy from EL A KRU out of Antigua did not only expose her external beauty, but entertained the crowd which comprised of mainly Caribbean people with her highly vocal ranged “Expose“.

Barbados was not to be left out; top soca band Krosfyah entered the stage and gave the crowd a mesmerising performance when they echoed some of the old tracks; “Pump Me Up“, “Wet Me“, and “Yardie“. Krosfyah’s newest member Adrian Dutchin from Guyana represented his country with “Impossible“. Khiomal enticed the patrons with “Welcome to de band” and “Bashment Bacchanal“. Edwin and Khiomal teamed up to render “Sak Pase“, followed by “French Kiss“.

The soca junkies could not wait for Mr. Dale to soothe them with his infectious “Soca Junkie“, the crowd sang the lyrics of the song verbatim. Then entered Lil Rick with his electrifying waistline movements and had the soca hungry people chanting his winning Party Monarch tune “Caan Wait“. The place was on fire by the time backing band Krosfyah stuck the first note of “Girls Gone Wild“. Lil Rick invited the ladies on stage and they certainly went wild with varying gyrating waistline movements. It was certainly soca to die for!
