A netball team from the British Army based in Germany is visiting Barbados. The team, comprising 16 female military personnel of different ranks and ages, all play a competitive standard of netball.

The tour is providing an ideal opportunity for them to travel and play netball at a much higher standard than is currently available in Germany, and thereby “fly the flag? for the British Army.

The British High Commission is collaborating with the National Sports Council to arrange a number of games against local teams including the Barbados Under 16’s and Police Girls Club.

In addition, the team will undertake community work and will be visiting local primary schools to assist in coaching children in netball and to donate some much needed netball equipment. Schools to be visited will include St Bernard?s Primary School in St Joseph, Bay Primary School and Belmont Primary School in St Michael and St Patrick?s Primary School in Christ Church.

The team will wrap up their visit with a match against the National Sports Council Netball Team on 31 October. They leave the island on second November.
