Barbados Investment and Development Corporation hosting seminar on Product Design, Manufacturers plus Arts & Craft creators invited
The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation in its effort to develop the Barbadian craft industry is moving towards making the products produced through the craft?s sector viable to the country?s economy. To do so the BIDC is hosting a two-day product design workshop on August 17 and 18 2007 to boost product sales through fresh and innovative product design.
With 10 hours of intensive design and prototyping solutions by Product Designer, Mark Hill, who is a graduate of De Montfort University, Leicester UK, the BIDC will assist artists in making their 2008 collection more marketable and exportable.
According to Craft Development Officer at the BIDC, Sandra Browne, ?participants will be able to develop new products or improve their existing product lines. Artists need to realize that their craft is potentially economically sustainable and be able to maximize this to its full potential?. She adds that the workshop will facilitate this development.
The BIDC is working in collaboration with Global Strategic Solutions to achieve this objective which would see the craft sector in Barbados moving towards a more viable and sustainable position. To prolong the access to such workshops and to target a wide audience, the BIDC will host subsequent workshops. A complete package inclusive of tuition and materials to develop your own products will be provided. All interested persons should contact Sandra Browne at the BIDC at 427-5350.
