Another generous person has come forward to assist in Damon Corrie’s quest for Amerindian Olympics –
Roberto Mucaro Borrero, President of the United Confederation of Taino People; and the UCTP will be sponsoring the traditional spear-throw events (similar to Javelin – but with a traditional hunting spear) and we now have an unexpected final tally of 9 sporting categories with 30 individual events.
The 2007 Ernest C. Simon Memorial Sports Festival will now encompass an unprecedented 9 days of activities for the 1,300 member Arawak community of Pakuri, and will dispense over a quarter of a million Guyana dollars in Prize Money & Trophies among the participants (bear in mind the average resident makes less than one-thousand Guyana dollars per day)
