DOMINICA JAZZES St. LUCIA: MORE SAILING ACTION IN CARIBBEAN WATERS
Following the Dominica Yacht Club?s (DYC) historic first race outing to the Bequia Easter Regatta recently, the DYC competed in last weekend?s BMW J24 Invitational Regatta hosted by the St Lucia Yacht Club.
Jerry Bethell skippered and Valence Victor, Marie Mazat and Rowald ?Felly? Derrick crewed the DYC Team boat to a great showing, placing 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and 4th on the Saturday?s racing circuits and 1st, 2nd and 1st on the Sunday?s racing circuits, for a total of seven races.
The DYC team placed 2nd overall for the regatta among 8 teams.
All team members and supporters declared the regatta a great success for the DYC and as in Bequia, for Dominica and its infant yachting and sailing industry in general.The BMW Invitational was sailed in 4 identically rigged and outfitted J24 sailboats with the teams taking turns racing and sailing a different boat in each race, making for superb match racing and the showing of team skills.
