Outfield Launch 19

Well, we finally caught up with our promise to look at Shouts From The Outfield from new Barbadian publishing house, AE Books, it is fielding different aspects of the sport that most Caribbean folk would either kill or die for…

This is a wonderful memento for any die-hardest cricket fanatic to either give as a present or take back home for time well spent in Barbados!

Taking a peep from the very beginning, there’s Linda Deane’s foreword, where she blames poor Wes Hall for her mum not realising she was in labour with young Linda, what a 1963!

Robert Sandiford‘s view may be familiar to some, but it still has a valid viewpoint! Teach cricket from very young in much the same way a Brazilian toddler is handed a soccer ball from the time they walk or a Canadian kid is handed a puck from the time they mastered skating.

No Caribbean cricket viewpoint is ever complete without a taste of Paul Keens-Douglas and that is why you can find his Fete Match in there…

Tony Cozier recalls the original Kensington Oval while Hilary Beckles composes a tribute for the one and only Sir Garry Sobers.

With cover art from Ewan Atkinson, this is a rich tapestry of many aspects of cricket, looking forward to AE Books tapping into a cricket poetry anthology and for when their website is officially up and about!
