Kids? Eating fruits & veggies not only makes you strong, but a chance to see Barbados!

Imagine a British primary school pupil’s poem singing the praises of legumes can help her family get a trip to out gem of the Caribbean Sea?

Lucy Lewis‘s little rhyme earned her a place in the final of a national poetry writing competition in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The 10-year-old from Manuden Primary School, near Bishop’s Stortford, now stands a chance of winning a family holiday in Barbados.

Her entry fought off 20-thousand others and still has a ways to go…

The final 16 will be judged by a panel including the [British] Children’s Laureate, author Jacqueline Wilson, best known as the creator of Tracy Beaker.”

Each entry required a pound sterling sent along with it, this money went towards research against cancer in children.

If she wins, she can tell kids in the UK about shaddock, sugar-apples, eddoes, yams and the like and get them to import our goods!
