Well-well-well! It may not matter now how much money was wasted to try and adjust to a manic and massive inflow of tourists here for CWC 2007, it seems not enough tickets are moving and the blame-finger is slowly aiming towards the infamous visa for Caricom!
Mia Mottley, who is both the chair of CARICOM’s subcommittee for World Cup security and Deputy PM of Bim, recently told a tourism industry gathering in Aruba that while they cannot roll back on the visa, nevertheless, they must learn to cope in making the process more convenient.
At the same time, Jamaica’s Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) and their tourism minister say cancellations happened due to the visa requirements.
Fans, European tour operators and tourism workers criticised Caricom heads over the travel requirement.
Great, so now instead of too many ppl here, we may get too few – we avoid the $20 million US dollar fine …. but how much was spent hoping for a flood of foreigners to go on a spending spree? Steupse!
