Leading distribution company, Bryden Stokes Ltd. has strengthened its management team in the areas of finance and marketing with the recent appointments of two experienced managers with pan-Caribbean experience.
Karen Forde and Lisa Jackman-Corbin joined Bryden Stokes earlier this year in the posts of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Marketing Manager respectively, a move which has further bolstered the senior management team and cemented the company’s path to greater efficiency and growth in the local distribution market.
As CFO she is responsible for directing the company’s financial goals, objectives and budgets as well as overseeing the investment of funds, supervising cash management activities, and managing the associated risks. “My plans for Bryden Stokes include streamlining processes, improving efficiency and working with the team to raise the bar in everything we do,” Ms. Forde, who’s been in her post for several months, said.
She is excited about her new role especially “at the prospect of bringing to bear all my experience and knowledge and making a significant positive impact on the company as it navigates its way through the recession and in helping it to prepare for even better results once that is finally behind us.”
The experienced leader decided to join Bryden Stokes because of its long and well-established history as a distribution company. “I find that kind of staying power very impressive and it’s a testament to the ability of its managers and staff that have kept it going all this time. It’s an added bonus that it is a part of the ANSA McAL Group which is also a long-standing company and also has a great deal of experience in weathering tough economic times.”
Marketing Manager, Lisa Jackman-Corbin joined Bryden Stokes to widen her expertise in a company she described “as foremost in distribution and product management on the island” and with brands that are “market leaders and the upmost in quality.”
She is excited about her appointment, particularly the opportunity to manage thousands of products. “It’s exciting to wrap your brain around so many products and determine and craft specific strategies for so many different brands.”
In her role Ms. Jackman-Corbin is responsible for creating the most innovative ways to market the brands which Bryden Stokes represents. “I’ve come and found a strong, diverse team and I’m here to add my strength and past experiences in Public Relations, advertising and marketing.” Prior to joining Bryden Stokes, she worked in senior and regional marketing positions with GTECH Global Services and Greg Hoyos Associates.
Ms. Jackman-Corbin holds a BSc in Management from the University of the West Indies and an MSc in Marketing Management from the University of Surrey. The widely-travelled marketer considers herself highly creative with a knack for being able to do a lot with a little. “In times of the country’s economic challenges we have to generate the same returns with fewer finances. This is something I’ve had to adapt to over the years. And I’ve done it successfully.”
Bryden Stokes is a member of the ANSA McAL (Barbados) Ltd. group of companies. Geoffrey Evelyn, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) welcomed Ms. Forde and Ms. Jackman-Corbin to the management team. “We’re happy to have Karen and Lisa on board as they possess decades of experience and results in the financial and marketing sectors. They also add great value to the company. Our team has undoubtedly been strengthened as a result.”
Mr. Evelyn added that in the coming months additional management appointments would be made at Bryden Stokes.
