FOUR MEN HELD ON NINE POUNDS: IF BARBADOS COULD TAX GANJA, WOULD POLICE RESOURCES BE IMPROVED?

Police have arrested and charged the following persons arising out of a seizure by the Customs Enforcement Department:

1. Andre Antonio Crichlow, 32 years of 1st Avenue, Alkins land, eagle Hall, St. Michael;
2. John Grazettes, 48 years of 2nd Avenue, Peterkins Land, Bank Hall, St. Michael;
3. Jason Travolta Calderon, 33 years of Block E2, North Close Wildey, St. Michael; and
4. Selwin Junior Thorne 38 years of Gemwick, St. Philip.

They have all charged with Conspiracy and Trafficking. Crichlow and Grazettes received additional charges of:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation of 9 lbs of cannabis.
Grazettes was charged with Acts Preparatory

On August 20th, members of the Enforcement Unit of the Customs and Excise Department carried out a search of a consignment which arrived at the Port from Canada and 9 lbs of compressed cannabis were discovered.  Further investigations led to the arrest of the mentioned persons.

Grazettes received additional charges of:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking; and
4. Cultivation of 37 cannabis plants

On Wednesday August 27th, 2014, a search warrant was executed at his residence and the plants were found under cultivation.

The four men appeared at the District B Court on Thursday August 28th 2014, with the exception of Calderon, they were remanded until September 25th 2014. Calderon was granted Bail.
