Barbados joins Globeathon Walk to End Women’s Cancer – 7th Sept 2014 at Bay St Esplanade
“We are proposing a gynaecological cancer and prevention unit at the QEH which would be another centre of excellence, providing cancer care and preventative to prevent below-the-belt women cancers . . . ,” gyneacologic oncologist at the QEH, Dr Vikash Chatrani, said at the Press launch for the Sagicor Globe-athon walk and run, held at Sagicor Life’s Wildey, St Michael offices.
Globeathon Barbados is determined to increase awareness, educate and initiate early screening for all women.
The inaugural Globe-athon event in 2013 was conceptualised to raise awareness of below-the-belt women’s cancers such as cervical cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer and more. The 2013 Barbados event attracted over 1,200 participants and raised funds which were donated to improve Women’s Cancer Services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This year’s 5K walk and run will take place on September 7th at 4:00 p.m.
