JAMAICAN BLAKE CHARGED WITH DRUG OFFENCES

Police have arrested and charged Jamaican national Tasha Gay Blake, 25 years with the following offences committed at the Airport on 14th July 2014:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation of 1lb of cannabis.

Ms. Blake arrived by air from Jamaica on Monday 14th July and was interviewed by Drug Squad personnel and was referred to Customs.  Her luggage was searched but nothing illegal was found.  She was further interviewed by Drug Squad personnel and she handed over a number of pellets of cannabis which were hidden about her body.  She was referred to the QEH where she passes 3 packages containing pellets of cannabis which she had ingested.   Total weight, 1 lb.

The Jamaican national appeared at the Oistins Magistrates Court on July 18th 2014 and pleaded guilty to all the charges. She was fined $10,000 forthwith on the charge of Possession or 18 months in prison. She was Convicted, Reprimanded and Discharged on the other charges.
