DRUG SEIZURE OFF ALLEYNE’S BAY: PAIR SET TO MAKE APPEARANCE FOR OVER 500 LBS OF GANJA

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and formally charged Sabastian Thorpe, 36 year old fisherman of Porters Road, Queens Street, St. Peter, and Junior Mascoll 28 year old Groom, of Pipers Avenue, Bayville, St. Michael for the following offences:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation of 661 lbs of cannabis.

(R.B.P.F's FILE IMAGE) On Thursday June 19th 2014, during a joint operation led by members of the Drug Squad and supported by the Police Marine Unit and Barbados Coast Guard, a boat was intercepted 5 nautical miles off Alleyne's Bay, near Mount Standfast, St. James.   The shipment is valued about $1.3 million Barbados currency.

Thorpe and Mascoll are expected to appear at the District E/Holetown Court on Monday June 23rd, 2014.

DRUG SEIZURES

Members of the Drug Squad and Special Services Unit of the Force conducted drug eradication exercises and search warrants in the Henley, St. John community on Sunday June 22nd, 2014 and the results are listed below:

1. Ninety-eight (98) cannabis plants were discovered hidden in a bushy area, no arrests. The plants ranged between 4 inches to 4 feet in height.

2. A search warrant was executed at the residence of Charles Ernest Padmore, 54 years, and 10 plants, height of 6 feet, weighing 14 lbs, were found under cultivation in his enclosed yard. He was arrested and charged for the offences of :

a. Possession
b. Possession with intent to supply
c. Trafficking; and
d. Cultivation of cannabis.

3. A search warrant was executed at the residence of Everton Carlo Evelyn, 38 year old professional Athlete, and 9 plants weighing 2.5 lbs, were found under cultivation on his property. A further 2 lbs of loose quantity of cannabis was discovered in his house. He was arrested and charged for the offences of :

a. Possession
b. Possession with intent to supply
c. Trafficking; and
d. Cultivation of cannabis.

4. A search warrant was executed at the residence of Jamel Kerry Evelyn, 29 years old, and 20 seedlings weighing 19 gms, were found under cultivation on his property. A further 3 lbs of loose quantity of cannabis was also discovered. He was arrested and charged for the offences of

e. Possession
f. Possession with intent to supply
g. Trafficking; and
h. Cultivation of cannabis.

The abovementioned persons are expected to appear at Magistrates Court on Monday June 23rd, 2014.
