BARBADIAN FACES DRUG CHARGES: MET SEARCH ON RETURN FROM CANADA

A joint operation between the Drug Squad and the Customs and Excise Department was conducted at the Airport, and as a result Samuel Andrew Maynard, 32 years, of Hinkson Gap, New Orleans, St. Michael, was arrested and charged for the following offences committed on May 31st, 2014:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation of 12 lbs of cannabis.

Maynard arrived by air from Canada on May 31st 2014, about2.45 pm., cleared Immigration, and was interviewed by Drug Squad personnel.  He was then referred to Customs where searches revealed 12 packages of the illegal drug.  8 packages were discovered concealed in a false compartment of his suitcase, and 4 were concealed in packages of biscuits.
