(UPDATED) LAVINE FACING BOTH DRUG OFFENCES & DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACCUSATIONS, REMANDED TO JUNE 2014

Vincentian national Augustine Holdin Bruce, 31 years appeared at the District B Magistrates Court Monday 12th May, where he pleaded guilty to all the charges and was sentenced as follows:

1. Possession of a controlled drug, cannabis – fined $5,000 forthwith or 1 year in prison;
2. Trafficking – fined $5,000 forthwith or 1 year in prison to run concurrently;
3. Possession with intent to supply – Convicted Reprimanded and Discharged; and
4. Importation – Reprimanded and Discharged.

Bruce arrived by air from St. Vincent on 10 MAY 2014, he cleared Immigration, and was interviewed by Drug Squad personnel.  He was then referred to Customs where a search of his luggage was conducted and five packages containing the illegal drug were discovered concealed in a false compartment of his suitcase. He was also in possession of two candles encased in glass, which were broken and each contained a package of the illegal drug. Total weight 2.4 lbs.

MAN LAVINE CHARGED WITH OFFENCES

Lesanto Oralston Lavine, 28 years, of Rollins Road, Brittons Hill, St Michael, who was arrested for drug and assault charges committed on Saturday 10th May 2014, appeared at the District A Magistrates’ Court on Monday 12th May, 2014, and pleaded not guilty. He was remanded to HMP Dodds to reappear at the District A Court on the 9th June 2014.

Police went to the residence of Lavine in response to a domestic dispute report. During the investigation, Police seized 32 cannabis plants discovered growing in his back yard. The plants were 3 feet to 6 feet in height and were growing in pots and buckets. He was also detained for assaulting his girlfriend and causing her bodily harm.
