High Time? Creating ForEx & reducing Barbados’ deficit

Last year the Governor of the Central Bank stated it is best for Barbados to create a $400 million surplus in terms of Deficit balancing. At the same time? Barbados has had a harsh economic outlook from 2010 onwards, with an almost correlative rise in crimes involving locally grown cannabis, trees are not found in batches of 50 or 100 now…

You are finding swathes of square feet where hundreds of plants which are five of seven feet in height and equalling 500 lbs of material or more. Further, you are seeing families involving brothers or mothers and sons attempting cultivation.

Do not take my word for it, use this very website to prove what I am stating, since I receive Official Police Notices which I publish as they arrive – go in my Search Engine, which is at the bottom of every page on the bottom right corner, then type either ‘marijuana,’ ‘ganja‘ or ‘cannabis‘ and see what emerges?

Is sugar still a viable export with the little remaining under siege by protest action just averted? At a cost of $144,000 BBD per day?

Why are we selling the National Oil Terminal when it secures our own natural gas for both cooking and driving purposes? With a series of downgrades by recognised fiscal authorities in less than 24 months, we are now forced to consider a 30 year deal with the United Arab Emirates to clear the immediate overdraught this current regime has reduced Barbados into…

What do you think the UAE wants in return? We can only hope they’ll be kind enough to let us keep at least 45% of any oil drilled in the area where UCOLSEA found against Trinidad and in favour of Barbados for a ripe yet unexploited offshore drilling! I mean the UAE has so much money, they’ll be generous, right?

If Barbados decriminalized marijuana and stipulated it has to be licensed for export & tax then would we have to sell our silverware and these fields and hills for a mess of pottage? This Government is desperate to pull their lower cheeks from the fire, but at the rest of the country's expense!

Ganja production is on the rise, not decline, the Freundel Stuart Cabinet is missing the boat on hauling us out of debt! Ready markets await us – Canada, California, Colorado for medicinal reasons like a pain killer for cancer patients & Washington state for recreational purposes… I am so tired of hearing it is a gateway drug, having used it in 1985, 1987, 1997 (sidestream in 2004 at Digicel‘s launch on the Garrison) and 2006 I should be permanently hooked and “graduated” to worse materials, yet I stay within the accepted confines of rum and nicotene…

Here is something else no one can yet give me a satisfactory answer on – how many DUI’s or car accidents are solely based on cannabis alone as the mitigating factor? How many sick days are alcohol-induced hangovers? Barbados truly needs to wake up and smell the herb, then sell the herb!
