The Rugby Barbados Sevens team is in its final preparations before competing in the International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens World Series Hong Kong Qualifying tournament, in which the winner earns the status of a Core team on the IRB SWS Circuit for 2014-2015.
But Nicholson is conscious that Timothy Oulton and the team are not the only beneficiaries of this campaign. “Indirectly, this campaign is generating significant exposure for Barbados, which is the intention of our overall “Brand Barbados” campaign. The fact that Barbados has a team in the Hong Kong Sevens and the Commonwealth Games is one of the big stories of the Games, and it speaks volumes that a savvy marketing giant such as Timothy Oulton would come on board with us for this project.”
Nicholson is of the view that the campaign being mounted by Timothy Oulton is one that can easily be replicated by local companies with a need for overseas exposure, such as those in the tourism and services industries.
