The 11th Generation Corolla is finally in Barbados.

This true global icon and best-selling car has been totally re-designed with dramatically amplified elements of style, design, quality and craftsmanship, while building upon the Corolla reputation for reliability, efficiency and function.

With nearly 40 million units sold, the Corolla has played a major role in the motorization of the world, and its global popularity has had a significant impact on transportation throughout the world. It is this heritage that the new Corolla will inherit, and will continue, propelling the model to new heights.

The next generation Corolla continues the Toyota brand’s recent momentum set forth by design-focused product launches such as the RAV4 and new Yaris. The 2014 Corolla will remain appealing to the current consumers while helping the world’s most popular car grow in appeal to youthful car buyers.

From an overall concept point of view, the new Corolla was developed to “exceed customer expectations“. To achieve this, the production team meticulously pursued a daring and substantive advanced design and dramatically improved dynamic drive performance.

From an exterior point of view, the design has been developed with a keen look in mind i.e. a face that exudes bright intelligence and a dynamic impression. The front has an assertive lower grill design that ensures aerodynamics while still ensuring pedestrian protection.

The new Corolla is longer, wider, and has a long wheel base compared to the previous generation. This larger vehicle creates more comfort for the driver and passengers, as well as more cargo capacity. The cargo volume has over 470 L of space, which is enough to stow up to 4 full size golf bags.

The new Corolla will be available in seven appealing color shades including: Black, Gray, Silver, Blue, Super White, Red and Dark Brown.

The interior has a wide layout which emphasizes width creating a sense of space and excellent visibility. For the convenience of drivers, the front seats have increased adjustment ranges providing an optimum seating position for a wider range of occupants.

From an engine performance standpoint, the power output is increased compared to the previous generation. Various improvements have also been incorporated into the design of the transmission such as lightweight parts resulting in improved fuel efficiency.

In terms of safety, the Corolla gives all occupants a sense of safety due to the active and passive safety features. For active safety, the vehicle includes such features as Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).

In terms of passive safety, the new Corolla has a high-Strength & Impact Absorbing Structure, Seatbelts with front pre-tensioners and Airbags which help protect vehicle occupants.

The new Corolla was introduced to the Barbados press and local fleet car operators by Nassco Ltd. at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination.

Barbadians will have the opportunity to test drive the cars on Wednesday, March 19, when Nassco will stage an Open Day at its showroom on River Road.
