French Saint Martin, the Friendly Island, Announces Important Marketing Initiative in the Puerto Rico Market
After three intense years of visiting the Puerto Rico market, meeting with various travel wholesalers and travel agents, participating in key trade and consumer events, the Saint Martin Tourism Office has confirmed the importance of the Island’s market and its potential for Saint Martin’s tourism industry. In order to generate more Puerto Rican visitors to the island of Saint Martin, and in particular to the French side of the island, the Saint Martin Tourism Office has retained the services of Paradigm Associates to effectively promote this attractive destination.
“Paradigm Associates has great firsthand knowledge of our island and all it has to offer to the Puerto Rican visitor as they have been working with the Dutch side Tourist Bureau for over 13 years now”, noted Grégoire Dumel, the Regional and Local Manager for the Saint Martin Tourism Office.
Travel with Sears and Popcorn Tours have created air and land packages especially designed for the Puerto Rico market and will offer these packages through the Travel with Sears retail network, as well as to all travel agents in Puerto Rico through Popcorn Tours, a leading travel wholesaler in the island.
Besides the convenience of one stop vacation shopping, these air and land inclusive packages offer Puerto Rican consumers more significant savings than when air and hotel services are purchased separately. Tito Mediavilla, President of Travel with Sears, was present at the reception and provided further information on these packages to travel agents attending.
Saint Martin has also forged strong working relationship with jetBlue, the principal airline providing airlift between San Juan and Saint Martin.
The tourism organizations of Saint Martin are working closely with jetBlue and its Regional Marketing – Latin America & Caribbean Manager, Janid Ortíz, to explore the possibility of adding a second daily flight between San Juan and Saint Martin and the possibility of creating air and hotel packages through their Getaways program. Janid Ortíz was also present at the event and provided a background on the very successful jetBlue San Juan – Saint Martin – San Juan daily flights served with modern Embraer E190 jet aircraft.
“In cooperation with jetBlue and Popcorn Tours, we will have the opportunity to welcome travel professionals, as well as travel press from Puerto Rico to Saint Martin so they can further familiarize themselves with everything our destination has to offer, and allow them to better sell the island and communicate with the consumer all we have to offer”, said Jeanne Rogers-Vanterpool.
“Some of the Saint Martin offers which are of particular attraction to the Puerto Rican traveler include, among others, two distinct European cultures, savory, world-class gastronomy, 37 pristine beaches, lodging accommodations for all tastes and budgets, and a wide range of adventures and experiences, among these, scuba diving, kayaking, mountain biking, cycling, rock climbing, deep sea fishing, bird watching and hiking“, added Silviane John. “But perhaps the most attractive features of Saint Martin for Puerto Rican visitors are its really, honestly friendly people, the fact that you can use the U.S. dollar for all transactions, that Spanish is widely spoken and that it is truly a destination where Puerto Rican will have more fun“, concluded Grégoire Dumel.
Saint Martin is easily accessible from Puerto Rico via daily, non-stop flights by jetBlue on modern, spacious and comfortable Embraer E190 jet airplanes that can carry 100 passengers. Seaborne Airlines has also commenced daily non-stop flights to Saint Martin from San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, which further adds to the accessibility and convenience for Puerto Rican travelers.
