Barbadian software developers win major prize in regional competition
An app developed by a Barbadian team has taken the top prize in the Expert Developers category of the Digital Jam 3.0 competition. The prize was awarded on Sunday 2nd March in Kingston, Jamaica at a conference dubbed, Get Up, Start-up.
MediRevu was one of the 160 Applications that made it to the finals of the competition. The overall winning App, developed by Jamaican team, is called Crimebot. It maps crime hotspots and notify users of crimes happening nearby.
During the Get up, Start-up conference the more than 50 teams from Jamaica, Barbados, Dominica, Haiti, Antigua, Trinidad & Tobago and St. Kitts, had a chance to network with key experts from the Silicon Valley, and learn from leading tech companies how to find online work opportunities or get funding for e-business ideas.
Digital Jam 3.0 is an initiative of the Government of Jamaica, the World Bank Group, the Government of Canada and key partners including CDB, the Development Bank of Jamaica, the OECS Secretariat, Microsoft, LIME, Google, the Jamaica Gleaner, JAMPRO, InfoDev and other corporate entities.
