Yet another Jamaican on drug charges: Time for Ganja revision? Earn ForEx instead?

Police have arrested and charged Jamaican national Alburn Augustus Cato 41 years for the following offences committed at the Airport on 19 February 2014:

  • Possession
  • Possession with intent to supply
  • Trafficking; and
  • Importation of 6 lbs of cannabis.
Cato arrived by air from Jamaica on February 19, 2014 about 7.26 am and was interviewed by Police. He was referred to Customs where a search of his luggage was conducted and the illegal drug were discovered concealed in his suitcase. Drug weighed 6 lbs.

Cato appeared in the District B Magistrates Court on the 2014-02-20 and he pleaded guilty to the charges. He was fined $15,000 forthwith or 2 years in prison on the charge of Trafficking; $15,000 forthwith or 2 years in prison on the charge of Possession with intent to supply; Convicted, Reprimanded and Discharged on the charge of Possession; and Reprimanded and Discharged on the charge of Importation.
