Goddard Enterprises Ltd boost the Barbados Defence Force

Viewers of CBC TV on Christmas Day last year would have been treated to a beautiful programme of Christmas music from the Barbados Defence Force Band which was sponsored by Goddard Enterprises Ltd. (GEL).

The 45 minute programme which also highlighted shots of the rich military history of Barbados was part of the Company’s community outreach programme where every year a different musical group is selected to perform for the annual Christmas TV programme. The master tape is then presented to the group which can be used for promotion or to sell copies of their music in the form of CD’s or DVD’s in order to raise funds.

Monies from the 2013 programme will be used to support the Defence Force Band in the training of its members and in the purchase of new instruments and equipment. Part of the funds will also be used to help some of the Legionnaires who may be in need – retired soldiers who require accommodation support and meals.

Band Director, Captain Alfred Taylor stated that they were very happy to have been a part of the programme because whenever the Band plays, there are always queries for CDs or DVDs. “Now we have a product to sell to patrons when we play. We also intend to place them on sale by the Legion at the Garrison.” He further explained “We would not have been able to do this on our own and are deeply appreciative to Goddard Enterprises for choosing the BDF Band this year for this project

On presenting the Master tape to the band, Managing Director of GEL Anthony Ali commented “My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the programme and I know that many of our staff members will too.” He offered to promote the DVD among the GEL subsidiaries in an effort to encourage staff to purchase copies and help to assist the cause while getting some top class music.
