SURINAMESE NATIONAL CHARGED WITH DRUG OFFENCES

Surinamese national Steven Riedwald, 32 year old, was arrested and charged by members of the Drug Squad for the offences of:

1. Possession of 1/2 kilo of Ecstasy (MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine)
2. Possession with intent to supply;
3. Handling; and
4. Importation.

{DEMO ONLY, IMAGE VIA - whatsonningbo.com} On Thursday, December 12, 2013, Riedwald arrived by air from Trinidad and was interviewed by Drug Squad personnel after clearing Immigration and Customs.  He was referred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he passed 81 packages containing the 972 tablets of the drug he had ingested; total weight 1/2 kilo.

On Monday December 23, 2013, he appeared at the District B Magistrate Court and pleaded guilty to all charges. He was remanded until January 16th, 2014 pending payment of the fine of $46,000, or 3 years in prison.
