Spreading Yuletide Cheer at the St. Lucy District Hospital

With sound sheets in hand and luster in their voices members of the Rotaract Club of South Barbados (RCSB), accompanied by retired musician Mr. Lisle Ward, visited the St. Lucy District Hospital for an evening of Christmas Caroling. Taking the opportunity to also sit and chat with the residence of the home, RCSB members provided a festive atmosphere which saw some of the residents dancing and singing to their favourite Christmas melodies.

During their visit, RCSB Community Service Director, Mr. Caleb Welch, presented a care hamper to Senior Nurse, Mrs. Janice Straker who expressed her gratitude to the club for their efforts and kind gesture. "We know that the residents would have enjoyed this afternoon and we hope to have you visit us again in the not too distant future" she said.

President of the Club, Ms. Tara Collymore was delighted to have had the opportunity to visit the home and indicated that The Club would consider making a visit to the St. Lucy District Hospital an annual event. “The response from residents, staff and members of the club was very overwhelming and I believe that care for the elderly is of great importance“. It is from this perspective that Mrs. Collymore hopes to establish a long standing relationship and was also keen on the possibility of adopting the institution.
