The historic baobab tree in Warrens was a magnet for a group of visitors recently.

When first-time visitor Senta Caleb found out it was among the oldest trees in Barbados, she immediately set out to make her name part of history and the island’s landscape.

The majestic 300-year-old Baobab is a major attraction and has become part of the culture of the island.

Senta and her group from New York were touring the island after their cruise ship docked last week. When their taxi driver revealed the nature and value of the tree, she was intrigued.

I felt the need to etch my name in something that will remain permanent in time,” Senta said.

With the help of her friends Shannon, Tannya, Andria and Alisha, she managed to scale the massive tree and inscribed her name on its bark.’
