JAMAICAN NATIONAL HYLTON ARRESTED FOR DRUG OFFENCES

Police arrested & charged Vinroy Hylton 23 year old Jamaican national for the following offences which he committed on the 2013-12-09 while at the Grantley Adams International Airport:

1. Possession of Cannabis , (1 lb)
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking and
4. Importation.

The accused arrived in Barbados by air on the 9th December 2013 from Kingston, Jamaica, he cleared Immigration and Customs but was suspected of having ingested a controlled drug.  He was referred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he subsequently passed out thirty-three wrapped packages containing cannabis which he had ingested.

On the 12th December 2013, Hylton was formally charged. He appeared before Chief Magistrate Beckles of the Oistins Magistrates Court on the 2013-12-13 where he pleaded guilty and was fined Bds $5,000.00 or eighteen months imprisonment.
