‘DLP Now Represents Everything Grantley Adams and Nelson Mandela Fought Against’ by Henderson Bovell
Setting aside partisan politrickery and putting Barbados first regardless, like the BLP – every single Barbadian must not allow the DLP to re-write history or or to allow DEM to wriggle-out of this mess they’ve created. It is now clear that Barbados has an oppressive Government, which cannot be trusted and one which the country can no longer afford.
A series of public meetings and other media must therefore be used to clearly list the missteps that caused Barbados to be in this perilous state. It was no global financial crisis, which ended in August 2009, anyhow!
In any event – how can the country be expected to make sacrifices or move forward, without a clear understanding of what caused its downfall, so that it can be avoided in the future, although – I seriously doubt whether any other political institutions in this country would ever be as backward as this DLP – to even conceptualize a modern system of THE ‘Apartheid,’ seen in South Africa! That is precisely what the DLP’s “fatted calf doctrine,” is!
It was the DLP’s ‘fatted calf doctrine;’ of arrogance, its flawed policies, bad decisions; poor judgment & reckless spending on political entitlement programmes, which triggered the meltdown of the economy.
What “political clown” would give a company that was alleged to have been: “sound, well-managed and well-regulated” – $10 mil of the taxpayers’ money? The facts are that the DLP has been consistently spending millions more than it has and in circumstances where that spending neither stimulated nor stabilized the economy.
It taxed and spent and keeps borrowing merely to pay-back debt! All the while – recklessly reaching into the NIS and succeeded in putting it in a perilous state, where it can be broke in 9 years (a lot sooner) if this irrelevant DLP is not reeled-in, soon!
These political jokers just do not get it: that by savagely placing 3,000 in the Public Service on the bread line, they have essentially initiated an unproved attacked on private sector employees – all of whom are now on notice, since most employers were holding strain for some time now!
Look where the DLP’s folly – that the economy is not important – has Barbados: Three thousand (3,000) more will go home, “in the same DLP’s society” where the rate of poverty is already 30% and where (despite the $30m being spent annually on Constituency Councils) churches across Barbados have reported that starving Barbadians are being forced to come to the Church for food for the body. That – at a time when large sums are being spent on political football – but the Vote to the Welfare Department, was slashed!
It got it wrong on every occasion in the past! Its policies are not working and it has no good ideas how to get Barbados out of this mess but instead of, consulting bajans or even using BLP clearly-thought-out-policies – the DLP is demonstrating that is has no confidence in the people of Barbados to collectively put the country back on track and has instead – turned to the IMF, which incidentally – arrived here three days after Independence!
The DLP was given the chance it begged for but it gets it wrong, consistently! It deceives the country and betrays the trust and confidence Barbadians place in it! It consistently break its promises to Barbadians! It even told the same 3,000 Public Servant (it will now savagely sacrifice to keep its large; unproductive Cabinet employed) that their jobs are safe and that there will be no layoffs from the Public Service! That promise has turned-out to be yet another in a never-ending-series of trademark DLP lies!
To everyone’s horror, the DLP, which told the country in February that it has a plan and wanted more time – has suddenly surrendered and has rushed to the IMF for rescue. The DLP therefore represents, (1) what Bajans hate most about politics and (2) everything Nelson Mandela fought against! That Barbadians voted for the DLP but see their country (so soon after February) placed by it in the hands of the IMF – is a fundamental breach of trust, requiring (1) an immediate public vote of no confidence against the DLP (2) a Parliamentary vote of no-confidence against the Government “OR” and (3) urgent and immediate fresh general elections.
It is shameful that at a time when strong leadership is required, the DLP has surrendered and is proud to side with the IMF and say, “it cannot!”
In contrast, we believe in Barbados and are delighted to stand with other like-minded and patriotic Barbadians against the DLP and the IMF! “We can ease the squeeze and the pain and make Barbados better and stronger!”
We will not leave any Barbadian behind and will partner with every citizen and all who love Barbados and want it to succeed – to rescue this country and work towards creating “a better and brighter Barbados” for all. We are hereby making it known that we are reporting for duty and are ready to serve!
We will remove the DLP’s: “closed until further notice,” sign and proudly display to tourists and investors: “Barbados is again opened for business!” The DLP and the IMF may have sent home 3,000 but the BLP has a legacy of putting over 30,000 to work. We will make you proud, to be a Barbadian again and to have a Government you can trust and one which regional people and the world has confidence in!
