CBC TV8 Under Massive Fire: “Days Of Our Lives” in Limbo as Facebook erupts! (WARNING: LANGUAGE)

{NSFW: Some memes have strong language or violent content} The captions in the memes are various reactions from many Barbadians to a lull after 4 decades on weekday evenings of the (in)famous Days Of Our Lives {DOOL} from 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm…

That said, I listened and watched the debate unfold as the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation announced that, as was the case soem years back - I'm sure some of you would remember - that the staple of Barbadian society Days of Life was going on a short hiatus due to a delay in the shipment of the 'latest' episode (which if memory serves me correct should be somewhere around 1996 or 1998). Wow!

Does it really make sense to import old episodes when folks can go to MCTV or some download-site and get as Current or Retro as they want?

One was a massive cheer from some young people who in the famous word of Rudifus out of Madd, felt it was to get that picture off my TV, it's causing me such pain and misery oh can't you see... On the hand there was the repsonse of the folk that said. CBC ain't right. and then I hear someone say If they evuh tek my picture offa my tv, so much trouble dem wud have in dis country can't you see? Who evuh feel dem bad and try tuh tek it way frum we, it gun be riots and riots in dis country and and i know de women (and men and some uh de fellas pun de block) wha help me get um back pun TV. Well in time to come we will see, if Gabby's Riots will be prophetic and if the feeling he spoke of is correct.

This reaction may seem alarmist, but you may not recall how in the 70’s when “Peyton Place” ran out and was repeating (to be replaced with DOOL, ironically) there was a protest march outside CBC’s gates for at least a business day…

CBC should cut the cost of ads shown around this time as no one will be watching them...

When I started as Main Anchor at CBC in 1998, they had plans to stop the old DOOL and just run straight to the Current-Day in a staggered move taking 3 weeks… CBC got 12 Death or Bomb Threats per day – 7 of the 12 were MEN!

Don't know why everyone is so happy. if they can't afford Days we should be wondering what they CAN afford!

When I was 14, my Dad was in a Fender Bender, the Police sent an Officer to get his statement, the man look at Dad and ask if he will take long as he wants to get home in time for Days? #truestory

Don't mind me, just watching my news feed filling up with Days of our lives fans ranting...

Strangely enough, shortly before the late Right Excellent Errol Barrow died in 1987, he was considering to pull “Days” off of Channel 9 (as it was then), I often wondered if the Barbadian fans prayed him to death?

Many Bajans seem to feel the worst is yet to come? “CBC just announced that today will be the last Days of Our Lives until a new shipment arrives. Riot squads be on standby!”

Just so this might be the biggest indicator of trouble to come across this land? Brace yourselves...
