Dominican Republic celebrating tuberculosis cure

In a “Rejoice in being healthy” ceremony held yesterday, Wednesday 17 July, Santo Domingo’s Ministry of Public Health celebrated the fact that around 18,000 people in the country have been cured of tuberculosis, equivalent to 82% of sufferers, while others are still in the process of being treated.

The deputy minister of Collective Health, Rafael Schiffino, spoke at the event, attended by dozens of people who have been cured of the disease, saying that he was pleased that so many had been cured after receiving free medicines from the national program to fight tuberculosis and that they could now return to work.
