MAN CHARGED WITH DRUG OFFENCES – RE: SEIZURE AT BRIDGETOWN PORT

Members of the Drug Squad on the 23 February 2013, arrested and charged Johnathan Jason Riveira, 30 years of 2nd Avenue Vauxhall, Christ Church, for the following offences after 10 lbs of cannabis was discovered by Customs personnel in a consignment of personal items at the Bridgetown Port on Friday 22 February 2013:

1. Possession of the illegal drug
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation.

{PERSONAL FILE IMAGE} On Friday, Riveira went to the Bridgetown Port to clear a barrel containing personal items. The barrel was inspected by Customs personnel who discovered the illegal drug in 3 boxes of cereal. He was detained and handed over to the Police.

Riveira is expected to appear at the Bridgetown Magistrate Court on Monday 25 February 2013.

    Johnathan Riviera appeared in the District A Magistrate and was granted bail in the sum of $25,000, with 1 surety, to return to Court on 19th July 2013. A condition set is for him to report to the Oistins Police Station every Monday and Wednesday between the hours of 6 am and 12 noon.
