Police are investigating an accident with injuries which occurred at Cane Garden Road, St. Thomas about 08:00 this morning. A mass casualty call out was instituted, where 27 persons complained of injuries.

The accident involved a motor omnibus belonging to the Transport Board and driven by Seymour Harrison, 34 years old; while the Garbage truck belonging to Garbage Management Inc., was driven by Courtney Bishop of Spooners Hill, St. Michael who complained of injuries to his legs neck and hands. His passenger Alvin Payne 51 years of Bank Hall, St. Michael received head injuries. They were both transported to the QEH by ambulances. The omnibus carried 70 school children of the Grantley Adams Memorial Secondary School; 25 of these students complained of soft tissue injuries.

Assessments were conducted on the spot and some of the injured were transported to Warrens Polyclinic for further treatment by way of an omnibus provided by the Transport Board, and others were treated and discharged.
