Bermuda’s Chamber welcomes new PLP leader as Marc Bean & Senators officially appointed
Upon receiving confirmation of Mr. Marc Bean’s successful run for Leader of the PLP, Bermuda Chamber of Commerce President Ronnie Viera issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the members of the Chamber of Commerce, I wish to congratulate Mr. Marc Bean on his election to leader of the Progressive Labour Party.
It is our hope that as we enter the New Year, a new era of politics in Bermuda will develop where both political parties work together for the benefit of Bermuda. The challenge has never been so great but if collectively we put aside our differences, political or otherwise, we stand a much better chance of getting through the current downturn, successfully.”
This as Bean was officially appointed Opposition Leader of Bermuda by Deputy Governor David Arkley at Government House today.
The new PLP leader also unveiled the party’s Senate team of Diallo Rabain, Marc Daniels and Renee Ming for the first time.
Mr Bean said it was an ‘honour and a privilege‘ to assume the role of Opposition Leader and he recognised the work of the party’s previous leaders.
Commenting on the appointment of the three new senators he added: “They are three very capable people and will make a formidable team in the Senate.”
