To BOLD-ly go… Looking at Blackberry’s OS 7.1 in the new 9900
Believe it not, because of Barack Obama – I started using a BlackBerry™ in August 2009, that was a Pearl 8120, then last November I had a second-hand Javelin 8900, but I finally made the plunge and got a brand new Bold 9900!
My first venture into a touch-pad, it is a lot easier than I thought, even with its small screen and my large digits; now, it’s quite natural to swish my thumb or index across the screen and double-tap for Options.
What is even more fascinating is hooking up with 4G, the Internet can sometimes be faster than some home or office desktop services! The 9900 is Ultra Sensitive to 4G, it lets you know your signal-strength faster than you can say Wi-Fi! The keypad which is a full-QWERTY set-up is expertly raised and bevelled to allow even the most clumsy of tappers to text and send!
What was also great was the efficient and friendly service at Digicel’s Sheraton branch, once the guy heard this was my 3rd ‘Berry, he bypassed the Set Up Wizard for me and handed the unit over to me, to customise as I saw fit!
I may try Samsung eventually, but for now most of my personal and professional contacts or with RIM, so I prefer to to keep it easier for all involved… Like NCC-1701 D under Jean-Luc Picard, I wish to boldly go!
